The Halo Effect

Title: The Halo Effect

Place: Winona Lake, Indiana

Description: This is a sillouette picture of my friend Steven who went with me to take many pictures you see on this blog. He’s a really awesome guy and has given me a lot of great pointers and feedback. I love this picture and this edit a lot, but in all honesty the thing that makes this picture for me is the “shooting star”-like jet trail in the background. Love it!

    • Thanks laura for stopping by! means a lot to me 🙂 I do really love the sillouette as well 😀 I just love using the sun for as much as I can 😛

  1. This is a great image!! We touched on silhouettes in my photography class last week but I’m still not very good at it. If you don’t mind my asking, what were your settings for this? Did you boost the color when you edited it? Whatever you did, it works!!!

    • Well as my title suggests I take all my photos with my iPad, i also edit and post to wordpress with my iPad. So, with that being said, there are no camera “settings” when you’re taking a picture on the iPad. All I get is a straight photo, then I use an app called iPhoto and Pix to edit them. For this photo in particular I darkened the picture, give it more saturation, and enhanced the already vibrant colors. I also sharpened the image a bit. Thanks for asking! Means a lot when people care enough to ask questions! I hope your photos go well 🙂

      • I can’t believe you took this with an iPad! I could draw a better picture than I get with my iPad! 🙂 You really have a photographer’s eye!

      • Thanks candy! Though I must admit, I have the 3rd generation iPad which has a much better camera than the 1st and 2nd generation. (though I’m not sure which you own) 😛

      • Ahh yeah, the 2nd gen has a .7 MP rear facing camera. Which is just sad! the 3rd gen iPad has a 5 MP which means a world of difference 🙂

      • I’m getting it that you really love your iPad…right? I’m trying to choose between an ipad and an Asus. Your blog is inspiring me, and leading me toward that iPad!

      • I would definitely recommend it to anyone! It has been more than worth it to me personally. It has actually replaced my laptop in just about every area 🙂

    • Hey! Thanks for commenting on my blog! And I’m glad you liked my pictures and that they are inspiring you! That makes my day for sure 🙂 thanks for stopping by!

  2. Great angle on this one, it lifts what otherwise might have been a fairly “basic” shot into a really interesting one.. the intensifying of the saturation etc is the icing on the cake that makes it pop. The “shooting star” is one of those happy accidents in photography (shutter clicking at just the right moment) that’s just bonus!

    • Awe, I’m sorry! Apple really wasn’t smart with putting in a really crappy camera in the second version :\ I’m glad they upgraded it for the 3rd gen! Thanks for commenting though ^_^ Means a lot!
